'Willy Wonka' Gets A Musical And Jason Voorhies Strikes Again In Today's Dailies -- 10/2/09

-- You know what's pretty crazy? This trailer for "The Crazies," the upcoming remake of George A. Romero's classic horror film. The movie, directed by Breck Eisner ("Sahara"), focuses on a Midwestern town that's gone bizonkers due to a mysterious toxin in the water supply. Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell play the lead roles. (Apple) -- John Woo is set to bring his Chinese action epic "Red Cliff" stateside on November 20, 2009, and there's a brand new trailer to prove it. I'm still wondering how he'll fit his trademark hero-with-two-pistols into the period piece, but I'm keeping an open mind. (Apple) -- Remember that horrifying Discovery Channel special about Earth's future millions of years down the line, where humanity is gone and scary hybrid creatures have taken over? It's time to live through that nightmare again, as "The Future is Wild" is coming to the big screen courtesy of "Shrek" producer John Williams. (The Hollywood Reporter) -- Gordon Bombay has traded in his coaching career for a director's chair. Emilio Estevez is helming "The Way," with his father Martin Sheen starring as an ophthalmologist who travels to France to reclaim his estranged son's body. Freud would have a field day with this one. (Variety) -- I can't decide what I'm more excited for: the Michael Jai White-starring "Black Dynamite" movie, or the just announced Cartoon Network animated counterpart. Either way, both should be pretty fantastic. (Latino Review) -- Hooray for Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin Soo-Kwon on "Lost," for landing a role opposite Matt Damon and Emily Blunt in "The Adjustment Bureau," based on a short story written by Philip K. Dick. John Slattery ("Mad Men") and Michael Kelly ("Law Abiding Citizen") also star. (The Hollywood Reporter) -- Three words: Willy. Wonka. Musical. If you want to view paradise, simply book a ticket for this musical. (Risky Biz Blog) -- Just when you thought you were safe, Jason Voorhies strikes again! "Friday the 13th Part 2" has officially secured an August 13, 2010 release date. Bloody Disgusting points out that this is the 13th film in the "Friday the 13th" franchise, and I'm glad I know this now, because I will absolutely hide from this movie once its released. I am too superstitious and value my life far too much to fall victim to some crazy film curse. No freakin' way. (Bloody Disgusting)
