Herb Gardner and Shel Silverstein together is a true romantics dream come true. Herb Gardner,(Thousand Clowns,) examines the life of a New Yorker, like many of his screenplays. Though the main character, (Dustin Hoffman who plays George Sollaway,)is a mega-star with everything that money can buy, he is still faced with the questions of life, age, friendship, loneliness. In the midst of his Hoffman`s confusion, he finds love, he for a glimpse sees the world for what he truly believes it can offer. He is no hero, though to his unintimate fanbase he may be. No, he is a lost soul, like many of Gardner`s characters. The film is beautifully done, complemented perfectly by Shel Silverstiens also very lonely though romantic and sentimental music.
