Dwight Eisenhower came to be known as `Our Golfing President.` There were some people, including myself, who thought he was on the links too much. But the country ran smoothly during his eight years, And some people, like myself, felt it was due to Vice-President Nixon actually running the country. Maybe so...we`ll never know.

Biography
Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower (pronounced EYE-zən-how-ər; October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969) was the 34th President of the United States from 1953 until 1961. He had previously been a five-star general in the United States Army during World War II and served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe; he had responsibility for planning and supervising the invasion of North Africa in Operation Torch in 1942–43 and the successful invasion of France and Germany in 1944–45 from the Western Front. In 1951, he became the first supreme commander of NATO.
