As far as the conclusions of each of Glenn`s marriages, and how they ended and who chose to end them, I can`t say for sure, and I probably shouldn`t speculate. That was Glenn`s business.
I imagine that`s probably why they decided to stay friends. They were better off as friends anyway. My question is, what did Eleanor see in Glenn? He didn`t seem like her type at all. I love Glenn, but they really didn`t seem very well matched. As for Glenn`s indecisiveness it was my understanding that he didn`t like to be alone, so I don`t think, ( I can`t say for sure, no one can) that he ended any of his marriages, my bet it was the women more than likely. He even proposed to Debbie Reynolds while on the set of It started with a kiss both coming out of long term relationships, Debbie turned him down saying she wasn`t ready.

Oh, Poor Eleanor Powell, You could tell that she was trying to (Save Face) in that newspaper comment !!God Bless Her !! And, may I add, Look at Glenn`s track record with women. Then, Look at Rita Hayworth`s track record with men. How Long do you think THAT union would have lasted, had they married ???? It`s just to bad that Poor Eleanor, and Kathryn and Cynthia and Jeanne, had to endure Glenn`s indecisiveness.
This was a comment from Eleanor in the Sunday Gazette-Mail, 1-22-1961. I guess deep down, in the far pockets of my soul, I knew Glenn and I were mismated. But I continued to hope that things would get better. I was never bitter. I never complained. Glenn was my husband and the father of our son ... When Peter was 14, I decided to stop running ad face the truth. Our marriage just wasn`t any good. It was no good for Glenn, no good for me, no good for Peter. One day in April 1959, I finally turned to Jimmy Juris, an old family friend. `Jimmy,` I said, `make an appointment for me with Jerry Giesler. I want a divorce.` But Jerry Giesler was sick and another lawyer handled the divorce. But no matter who had handled it, I wasn`t about to air any dirty linen in public.

I guess that I just do not understand how Mr Ford could have allowed a Divorce to happen between him and the Beautiful Eleanor Powell. Eleanor was Beautiful, Caring, Devoted, and an Outstanding Mother. Mr Ford.. What were you thinking ??

I agree with Irene. I think that Glenn always carried a torch for Eleanor Powell.
Irene, that`s actually not true. While they were parents to Peter and at one point did love each other, in an interview recently, Peter Ford himself said that Rita was the love of Glenn`s life. Now if it was reciprocated on Rita`s end we will never know. But one thing is for sure and that is Rita and Glenn remained great friends for most of their life up until Rita`s death and Glenn always had a rose by Rita`s picture even after her death. I have the link to that interview if you are interested.
