Joe David Brown grew up as a boy across the alley from my grandmother, Addie Ozina Gibson Gourley. He was a dirty, snotty nosed little boy but she adored him and he adored her. He adored her because she baked cookies and gave them to him all the time. Her name Addie is, of course, where he got the name for Addie Pray.
