Fedor Sergeyevich Bondarchuk (Russian: Фёдор Серге́евич Бондарчу́к [bəndʌrˈtʂuk]; born May 9, 1967) is a Russian film director, actor, TV and film producer, clipmaker, TV host. He is a founder of a production company Art Pictures Studio, creator of acclaimed movie The 9th Company (original title Russian: "9 рота") which became the most profitable Russian movie at the box office of 2005, the film won 7 movie awards and was 8-time nominated. In 2006 The 9th Company was a candidate from Russia to be nominated on Academy Award. Also Fedor Bondarchuk is producer of the 2006 film Heat, where he starred as himself with his mother Irina Skobtseva. Fedor directed a dilogy The Inhabited Island (1st part of it was the most profitable movie on the CIS area in 2009). Bondarchuk is a winner of TEFI award in 2003 (Tefi is the Russian equivalent of Emmy award) in nomination “The best host of the entertainment tv-show”. He is a winner of Golden Eagle Award in 2012 as the Best Actor.
Fedor was born in Moscow in a family of actress Irina Skobtseva and internationally acclaimed film actor and an Academy Award-winning director Sergei Bondarchuk. He was no stranger to the world of cinema since his early childhood. In 1985 when the school was over Fedor became a student of Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). In 1991 he was graduated from the class of Yuri Ozerov as a film director. His actor debut was in 1986 in the movie Boris Godunov (1986) where he was acting with his father.
F. Bondarchuk: “It was not easy to play this role. Father was very strict. For me he is a kind of fantastic and firmly authoritative person. And of course I felt a great responsibility to him. Everyday after filming I didn’t have any free energy to do something else.”
In 1990 Fedor Bondarchuk started his career as a clip maker. The interesting fact is that Fedor Bondarchuk was the first professional clipmaker in Russia. In 1993 he won “Ovatsia” ("Ovation") award as the best producer of musical video and got it from his father’s hands. Afterwards, he was working with the biggest Russian performers. As a result in 1993 he received Ovation Award for his successful work in musical video. In 2001 Fedor played a role of Count Myshkin in Down House, outrageous screen version of Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot. As a film producer Fedor Bondarchuk started his career in 2002 with the movie In action (original title V dvizhenii, 2002). Since that time he has produced over a dozen of film-projects that had a great success and box office history. Bondarchuk is a winner of TEFI award in 2003 (Tefi is the Russian equivalent of Emmy award) in nomination "The best host of the entertainment tv-show". 2005 was very important year in Fedor’s life. This year he had his feature length directorial debut – film The 9th Company, based on real history of Afghan war (1979–1989). Filming process took place in Crimea during 5 months. As result, The 9th Company won 7 awards and was 8 time nominated. This movie broke box office record. The 9th Company became the first Russian movie earned $ 25 million. It became the reanimation of Russian film-industry. In 2006 The 9th Company was a candidate from Russia to be nominated on Academy Award.
“This movie is about my generation, about the war and friendship. About men’s love, feat, treason and loyalty" – Bondarchuk said, – "Probably the truth I was trying to show there will not be pleasant to our generals. But Afghan soldiers who were excited after viewing our movie is the best proof for me. That is really important".
Also Fedor created a dilogy The Inhabited Island (original title Obitaemyi Ostrov, 2008). In 2006 he received from Boris Strugatskiy agreement and rights for the film adaptation of fantastical novel published in English as Prisoners of Power. And after that was 222 days of its filming. Dilogy became the most discussed premieres of the 2009 year. Production and distribution of Inhabited Island were realized by Fedor Bondarchuk's film company Art Pictures Studio. Movie earned $30 million and took the third place of the box office of CIS area in 2009. In 2012 Bondarchuk received Golden Eagle Award in nomination The Best Actor for his role in the movie Two days (original title Dva dnya, 2011) by Dunya Smirnova. At the same year, Fedor and his partner film producer Alexander Rodnyansky officially announced the beginning of the cooperation with IMAX Filmed Entertainment (also known as IMAX Corporation). Greg Foster, the president of the company, said: “Fedor and Alexander demonstrated me 15 minutes fragment of Stalingrad. And I’m very glad that we did a right choice in choosing a partners”. As a result their project Stalingrad will be the first non-American movie filmed in IMAX format. Movie will be released in 2013.
Fedor Bondarchuk's producer work - "Dukhless", screen version of S. Minaev's novel "Duhless", was released in October, 2012. It was deserved a rank of the most cash Russian fiction film in 2012.
In 2008 Feodor Bondarchuk, Konstantin Ernst and Ilya Bachurin found company Glavkino. It's one of the largest film concern of Russia. Main profile of activity: production, post-production, distribution film- and telecontent.

Fedor is more than 20 years married on Svetlana Bondarchuk, main editor of HELLO magazine (Russia). They have 2 children: son Sergey and daughter Varvara.
Art Pictures Studio
Fedor is a founder of Art Pictures Group production company, which he founded in 1991 together with his friend Stepan Mikhalkov and reorganized it in Art Pictures Studio in 2006 with his partner Dmitry Rudovskiy. The main area of the company is film and video production and distribution. Company is working with a variety of projects, ranging from music and advertising videos to feature films.
Musical and advertising videos made by Art Pictures received a lot of Russian and international awards. Company was working with Heinz, Philips, Sony, Zikr (Colgate total), Pepsi etc. In 2002 Art Pictures began a new business direction – film production.
In 2008 Fedor Bondarchuk together with Konstantin Ernst (Director General of the Channel One (Russia)) and Ilya Bachurin founded the large-scale project Glavkino. The project is to create contemporary, extensive and technically equipped cinema complex. The official opening is scheduled for year 2012. In 2011 Glavkino and New York Art Academy founded a Grant named after Sergei Bondarchuk.
In 2009 Fedor Bondarchuk with producer Sergey Selianov has initiated a project KINOSITI. The main mission of this company is to create network of multimedia educational cinema complexes throughout Russia.
Fedor Bondarchuk is an owner of three restaurants in Moscow (together with his friends and partners Stepan Mikhalkov, Arkadiy Novikov and Kirill Gusev). Also he opened two restaurants and confectionary in Ekaterinburg.
Fedor Bondarchuk is a popular TV host in Russia. His show about cinema world has been released weekly on the STS TV channel in Russia. His guests in the studio in different times were Oliver Stone, Darren Aronofsky, Michael Bay, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Craig, Til Schweiger etc. In 2003 he received TEFI as the best TV host of entertainment programme, in March 2004 Bondarchuk became a member of Russian Television Academy's fund. At the same year Fedor started to host a new reality show about supermodel's life. In 2013 Fedor have started his career of TV producer with two projects on the STS TV channel in Russia.
