Biography
Onur Saylak was born in 1977 in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. Until he finally found his passion in theatre, he initially studied at Middle East Technical University (METU), Department of Physics. However, he quit the university and tried his luck in a totally different field, Public Administration at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences. Meanwhile, he started acting in university theatre club (Theatre Club in Faculty of Communication - Iletisim Fakultesi Tiyatro Toplulugu) and took on the stage for amateur plays. There he decided to continue his life in acting and took the exams for Bilkent University, Department of Theatre. Once he was accepted, he professionally focused on acting and earning his life from being an actor. During his study at Bilkent, he took part in several theatre plays, i.e. Nazim Hikmet`s "Her Seye Ragmen". In addition, he also began acting on TV for some TV movies as well as mini series: Ask buraya ugramiyor (2004), Ne seninle ne sensiz (2005), Hisarbuselik (2006) and Kod Adi (2006). He became more popular with his noticeable acting in Hisarbuselik and reached to more audience with Kod Adi. Some time he did work as theatre director for TED (a famous college in Ankara). Since his voice is very suitable for singing and he was interested in musical side of theatre, he both took part in choirs at university theatre plays (e.g. Biedermann ve Kundakcilar) and wrote lyrics for some plays (i.e. Siradan Bir Gun by Dario Fo at Ankara Oda Tiyatrosu) . He was also on stage for state theatre plays, namely in Ghetto by Joshua Sobol (Ankara Devlet Tiyatrosu). Finally, he was seen on TV screen for a youth program on TRT 2 (Turkish National Tv and Radio Channel 2) called "Haydi Gidelim" for 13 episodes.
