In my opinion, the 1936 Olympics documentary was her magnum opus. So many things you see nowadays such as swim racers underwater, divers in slow motion, pole vaulters filmed from below, all sorts of sports shot from odd angles -- she pioneered them all.

It was never an affair, she was fascinated by his nature and obsessive personality. He was a companion but never a lover, Hitler could never give himself so.

In her youth, she was a silent movie star in Germany. She was one of the very few to survive an affair with Adolph Hitler. She died 8 Sep 2003.

Biography

Helene Bertha Amalie "Leni" Riefenstahl (22 August 1902 – 8 September 2003) was a German film director, photographer, actress and dancer widely known for directing the Nazi Party propaganda film Triumph of the Will. Riefenstahl’s prominence in the Third Reich, along with her personal association with Adolf Hitler, destroyed her film career following Germany's defeat in World War II, after which she was arrested but released without any charges.
