Barret Swatek

Barret Swatek is an American actress and comedian who has appeared in movies such as The Forty Year Old Virgin, Lethal Weapon 4, and On Edge. She has also appeared in TV shows such as American Dad, Just Shoot Me, and recurred as hilarious teacher Ms. Sommers on10 Things I Hate About You. She played resident bad girl gone good, Cheryl, in WB hit series 7th Heaven for three seasons and played the role of Brittany on the groundbreaking NBC television show Quarterlife from creators Marshall Herskowitz and Ed Zwick. Recent films include BARRY MUNDAY and HIGH SCHOOL, both comedies. She is a frequent panelist on the late night Fox News show Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld. She can currently be seen on MTV's critically acclaimed comedy Awkward. as insane Aunt Ally.

Early life [edit]

Swatek was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 3, 1980^[1] where she pursued competitive figure skating until she was 12 years old.^[2] She took part in community theater and studied film in college.^[2] She started college at the University of Arizona and finished with a degree in film at Loyola Marymount University^[3] Barret is one quarter Cherokee Indian.

Career [edit]

Swatek's first minor role was on the 1997 television show Power Rangers: Turbo. She continued to have guest starring roles on series Just Shoot Me! before landing a major role as Cheryl on 7th Heaven from 2001 to 2003.^[4] She then had a small appearance on The 40 Year Old Virgin and a regular role on the television series Quarterlife in 2008. In 2009 she appeared on the television series 10 Things I Hate About You as Ms. Sommers and continues that role into the series new season. In 2011, was cast in Awkward. as Ally. She also appears frequently as a panelist on Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld. Swatek wrote and starred in two web series, Dating for Dumbasses on Funny or Die and My Two Fans on KoldCast TV.^[5] Movies currently in production are comedy "Barry Munday" and stoner comedy "HIGH School". Swatek can currently be seen on half hour comedy "Awkward." as crazy, boozing, chain smoking Ally.
