Judith Exner Trivia

At 16, attending a Hollywood party with Robert Wagner, Judith met actor William Campbell. They wed two years later, and after an unhappy marriage, were divorced in 1958. During this period she was friendly with a Hollywood set that included Charlton Heston, Lloyd Bridges and Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. Supported by funds from her parents and from an inheritance, Exner lived in Beverly Hills, where she did some painting. She also dined out often at glitzy restaurants.

Although JFK is now thought of as having had many mistresses, Exner was undoubtedly his main squeeze. No serious biography of JFK since 1977 has failed to mention Exner.

Although JFK was assassinated in 1963, it was not until 1975 that the identity of Exner was revealed. This happened when the Church Committee investigated the link which Exner formed between JFK and Sinatra`s friends, including Mafia don Sam Giancana.

The Church Committee did not reveal Exner`s name, but the Republicans leaked it to the press, and JFK`s until then pristine pure reputation was irrevocably shattered.

Exner has been treated unfairly by history. She never sought to capitalize off the fact that she was JFK`s mistress. She kept this hidden for years. Jackie knew about her, of course. Once, when Jackie found a woman`s pink panties in her pillow case, she turned to JFK in bed and said, "Would you find out who these belong to, because they are not my size?"

Mrs. Exner is survived by a son, David Bohrer; two brothers, Allen and Fred Immoor; and a sister, Joan Collingwood

September 30, 1999, Thursday An obituary on Monday reported the death of Judith Campbell Exner. It quoted assertions she had made over the years that she had had an affair with John F. Kennedy before and after he was elected President. The article reported that aides of President Kennedy`s, including Dave Powers, denied the affair. But it should also have reflected what is now the view of a number of respected historians and authors that the affair did in fact take place. The evidence cited by various authorities in recent years has included White House phone logs and memos from J. Edgar Hoover.

She also said she had an abortion after becoming pregnant with Kennedy`s baby, almost a year before Kennedy was assassinated.

In Vanity Fair in 1996, Mrs. Exner said she had ended the affair, which she said had lasted two years, because she did not like being dubbed ``the other woman.``

Burial:
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.

She wrote a book, Judith Exner: My Story, which was published in 1977

The character Modene Murphy in Norman Mailer`s novel Harlot`s Ghost was based on Judith Exner

Her story was told in the film Power and Beauty (2002) in which she was played by Natasha Henstridge.
