[edit] Early life and education
Lung is the daughter of a half-Chinese father, his father (Emma's paternal grandfather) being born in a province near Beijing,[1][2] and a Scottish/French mother.[3] Growing up in Sydney, New South Wales, she attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, Australia before being accepted into the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City and completed her dramatic studies there.

Lung played Carmelita in the short-lived Australian drama series The Cooks. She received her first breakthrough role in the film Peaches starring alongside Jacqueline McKenzie and Hugo Weaving.[4] She starred in the movie 48 Shades alongside Victoria Thaine and Richard Wilson.[5] Lung starred in Christopher Smith's Triangle and stars alongside Ian Somerhalder in Cradlewood under the direction from Harry Weinmann.[6] She starred in the 2010 psychological thriller Crave alongside Josh Lawson, Edward Furlong, and Ron Perlman, which was directed by Charles de Lauzirika.[7]

At the 2006 Australian Film Institute's Industry Awards, Lung won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Short Film Screen Craft for her acting work on the short film Stranded.
At the 2007 Logie awards, Lung won the Graham Kennedy Award For Most Outstanding New Talent.
At the 2008 Australian Film Institute's Industry Awards, Lung was nominated for Best Lead Actress for her performance in The Jammed.[8]
