Ida Lupino Trivia

Do you like Ida Lupino?

Among her friends, she had acquired the nickname of Lupi; although it was merely an abbreviation of Lupino, it signified she was loopy or loony.

The telephone was an intrusive instrument that Ida thoroughly detested.

Ida`s favourite dessert was a sponge cake soaked in sherry and covered with custard, whipped cream, nuts, raisins, and fruit.

Was told she was not beauitful and had a "funny little pan" by the tough, crude, astute boss, Harry Cohn, who arn Columbia Pictures.

Her "Aladin Suite" was performed on radio by the prestigious Andre Kostelanetz Orchestra. Other compositions were broadcast by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Ida honed her acting expertise, rehearsing scenes before a mirror.

Her waist measured twenty-one inches.

She pushed herself relentlessly. She had arrived in Los Angeles weighing 127 pounds, a trifle plump but healthy. Paramount asked her to reduce and her weight dropped to 102 pounds.

Ida felt that Louis Hayward was one of the few people who truly understood her.

After she and Louis Hayward began dating, he happened to see her without her makeup and was charmed. Thereafter, when she put on the "war paint," he voiced his disapproval.

One moment she could be a littler girl, the next a regal princess. She was rearely the same for two minutes.

Many have descibed her as high-strung, sensiive, warm-hearted and generous.

Ida`s great-grandfather was George Hook Lupino, an actor who had achieved prominence in the Victorian era.
