I grew up in san diego (born 1953) and watched Johnny Downs in the afternoon. He would sometimes have drawing contests and I won first prize for drawing a flying carpet. I, along with a girl winner, were the king and queen of a special day where we both were awarded games and a bike and it was a pretty special day. Later, he was giving away free kittens on the show and he remembered me and came over the house to deliver the kitten. He seemed like a good guy. Fun memories.
