Bluebeard's Eighth Wife is a 1938 film made by Paramount Pictures, directed by Ernst Lubitsch, and starring Claudette Colbert and Gary Cooper. It is a farce about a millionaire banker and his wife. She teaches him a salutary lesson.
François Truffaut has said that Miriam Hopkins was slated to star as Nicole de Loiselle.[citation needed]
Paramount had filmed this story with success before in 1923 as a silent vehicle for Gloria Swanson.
