Three Moves to Freedom is a 1960 German drama film directed by Gerd Oswald and starring Curd Jürgens, Claire Bloom and Hansjörg Felmy. It was based on a novel by Stefan Zweig. In Austria in 1938 during the Anchluss, an intellectual is arrested by the gestapo and imprisoned in a room. To stop himself going mad, he masters chess.
