Fly Away Home is a 1996 drama and comedy film directed by Carroll Ballard, the director of 1979's The Black Stallion. The film stars Anna Paquin and Jeff Daniels. The story follows a girl (Paquin) from New Zealand who is involved in a car crash along with her mother. Her mother perished in the crash as a result and is taken back to Ontario with her father (Daniels) where she adopts a bunch of baby Canada geese. Unless Amy and Thomas can teach the birds a migration route from Ontario to North Carolina, the birds will take off on their own and have no idea where to go due to them not having an actual goose mother to teach them.
