Varalaru: History of Godfather (Tamil: ; English: ) is a 2006 Indian Tamil film written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar. The film stars Ajith Kumar in three roles as a father and his two sons, while Asin Thottumkal and Kanika Subramaniam also played leading roles. Ramesh Khanna, Suman Shetty, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sujatha, Santhana Bharathi and M. S. Baskar played supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by A. R. Rahman. The film's release was originally scheduled for 1 May 2005, but was delayed; it was finally released on 14 November 2006 worldwide. The film was originally titled Godfather (Tamil: ??????????) but was renamed to take advantage of the Tamil Nadu State Government’s Entertainment Tax Exemption act for movies titled in Tamil.
