This film of Hamlet was made the year of my birth, Laurence Olivier was wonderful as Hamlet, I have all his Shakespeare films on video Hamlet, HENRY V , Richard 111. He picked Jean Simmions for the part of Ophelia as he had seen her in Great expectations with john Mills, she I think had never done any Shakespeare before so he may have thought she would bring something to the film of Hamlet being a novice regarding Shakespeare. Jean is a good actor and Laurence Olivier saw that and signed her up for Hamlet. What a great cast Olivier really knew his onions well done Larry.
