The Final Terror (also known as Campsite Massacre and The Forest Primeval) is a 1983 slasher film directed by Andrew Davis. The film ranks as one of the stronger "second tier" slashers from the halcyon (and well-saturated) heyday of 1980s slasher films. The film was shot in 1981 in the Redwood forests of the California wilderness. It was not released for two years, as the production searched for a distributor. Finally it was released in 1983 to capitalize on the rising fame of its young stars (namely Ward, Hannah, and Zmed). Today the film has developed an underground following among slasher fans.
