Peep and the Big Wide World is an American/Canadian produced Flash animation television series created by Canadian Animator Kaj Pindal and based on the 1988 short film "Peep and the Big Wide Wide" produced by the National Film Board of Canada. The current series premiered on April 12, 2004 on Discovery Kids and on TLC on the block Ready Set Learn. It debuted on PBS Kids on April 12, 2004. It was produced by WGBH and 9 Story Entertainment. The series ran on April 12, 2004 through September 14, 2010 with 55 episodes. On October 10, 2010, the series was removed on the Discovery Kids lineup due from the new channel The Hub. It now airs nationally in the United States on public television, distributed by American Public Television. Peep and the Big Wide World is currently sponsored by the National Science Foundation in conjunction with WGBH-TV as part of an educational and outreach program. The National Science Foundation is the only permanent sponsor of the show. Northrop Grumman, The Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Chuck E. Cheese's, ExxonMobil, Toyota and Viewers Like You Thank You funded the show for only season two. The Discovery Kids Foundation funded the show for only season one.
