Donaciano Vigil (1802-1877) was the second governor of the New Mexico territory. He was born in Santa Fe to parents of Hispanic heritage and served in the militias. After the United States annexed New Mexico, during the Mexican–American War (1846–48), Vigil helped smooth the transition to North American governance.
