Biography
Carolyn Nelson Sargent is the actress who played Yeoman (Doris Atkins) in the Star Trek: Original Series- episodes, i.e. “The Deadly Years”, and acted in a number of television films and commercials, including “The Marcus-Nelson Murders”, “Passion Flower”, “The Last Elephant”, and “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three”. Nelson married famed film and television director Joseph Sargent in 1970. In 1975, she founded the Free Arts Clinic for Abused Children winning the US Magazine Frontrunner award in 1980 for her ground-breaking contributions in child abuse awareness and the healing processes of the arts. She was president and director of the organization for 14 years. She is also notable for laying the groundwork for Malibu Cityhood, the Deaf West Theatre, and producing Award Productions for the American Film Institute Affiliates honoring the Walter Matthau and Jane Fonda families. She is presently a food writer and she travels with her husband who continues to direct award winning television movies for HBO.
