Acamapichtli (Classical Nahuatl: Ācamāpichtli meaning "Handful of reeds") was the first Tlatoani, or king, of the Aztecs (or Mexica) of Tenochtitlan, and founder of the Aztec imperial dynasty. He became ruler in 1376 and reigned for 19 years.
