Elias Sekgobelo "Ace" Magashule (born 3 November 1959 at Tumahole, Parys) is a South African politician who served as the Premier of the Free State, one of South Africa's nine provinces, from 2009 until 2018. Magashule went into exile in the late 1980s. He was elected to the position by the Free State Legislature on 6 May 2009, replacing Beatrice Marshoff. He was elected Secretary General of the African National Congress in December 2017 during the party's elective conference.
