Afif Sunakim (born in Karawang, West Java – died 14 January 2016), was a member of ISIL and was one of the attackers in the 2016 Jakarta attacks. Sunakim was sentenced to 7 years in Cipinang prison in Jakarta for attending a training boot camp for militants in Aceh. In prison, where it is believed he was radicalized, he met Aman Abdurrahman, a figure linked to IS in Indonesia. He was freed from prison around August to September 2015. Five attackers, including Sunakim were killed by police on 14 January 2016. Three civilians also died in the attack on a Starbucks cafe and a traffic police booth.
