Aleksandr Borisovich Yudovich (Russian: Александр Борисович Юдович; December 3, 1930, Moscow, USSR – March 30, 1998, Russia), was a Soviet Candidate of Technical Sciences (roughly equivalent to a PhD) and a specialist in geophysics and maritime safety, researcher and long-distance sea captain. He is best known as the commander of the unique non-magnetic research schooner Zarya during the round-the-world expeditions of 1957–1958 (the International Geophysical Year) and 1960–1961, as well as the author of fundamental works on the prevention of navigational accidents at sea.
