Alfred Otto Gross (April 8, 1883 – May 9, 1970) was an instructor, ornithologist, and professor of biology at Bowdoin College. He went on two Arctic expeditions to study birds in the region. He studied numerous North American bird species but is best known for his studies of the last populations of the now-extinct heath hen.
