Amanda Daflos is the Chief Innovation Officer for the City of Los Angeles. She also serves as the Director of Mayor Eric Garcetti's Innovation Team (i-team), in partnership with Michael Bloomberg and Bloomberg Philanthropies, and oversees Mayor Garcetti’s gender equity agenda which has achieved substantial results for every department in the LA City government structure, has been replicated by numerous cities and lead to CHANGE, a city network dedicated to implementing outcomes based equity programming globally. Daflos was appointed by Garcetti in 2015 and became the first innovation officer in the City of Los Angeles, the second largest city in the United States. She is the first woman to serve in the role. Daflos was responsible for establishing the office from the ground up, an office that is now recognized as one of the most important labs in the world and has won numerous awards for its visionary, bold and thoughtful work. She is a leader in the non-profit industry and is considered a pioneer on the government innovation and transformation landscape. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Daflos served as a key advisor to Mayor Garcetti and oversaw all public health, science and data efforts for the Mayor and LA, the second largest city in the US.
