The Amina Bokhary controversy occurred in Hong Kong in 2010, when Amina Miriam Bokhary, the niece of a senior Hong Kong judge Kemal Bokhary, was given a non-custodial sentence, following an incident in which she assaulted several police officers. Her resulting probation was criticised as "soft", and provoked an uproar in Hong Kong for alleged preferential treatment for a member of a well-connected Hong Kong family. The case highlighted the public perception of widening inequality and increasing disparities in the balance of political power between different social classes in Hong Kong.
