Colombian Footballer Andrés Escobar was born Andrés Escobar Saldarriaga on 13th March, 1967 in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia and passed away on 2nd Jul 1994 Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia aged 27. He is most remembered for his role as a defender for the Colombia National Football Team. He was widely remembered as "The Gentleman of Football" for his calm demeanor and fair play. He is primarily known for a tragic incident during the 1994 FIFA World Cup when he accidentally scored an own goal, leading to Colombia's elimination. Days later, he was fatally shot in his hometown of Medellín in a retaliatory attack linked to the own goal and sports gambling. His zodiac sign is Pisces.
