Anne-Marie Duff and David Tennant met in January 1999, when they acted in the play 'Vassa' together. It was "love at first sight" for David, who told a Scottish interviewer how he had fallen for her as soon as he saw her act, and was awestruck by her talent and integrity. By the following year, the couple were living together. Though they had to spend a lot of time apart working on different acting jobs, while he was working at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon, David drove 200 miles every weekend to be able to spend Sundays with her. They split in 2003, but remain friends. In 2006, they played husband and wife in the play 'Look Back in Anger.'
