Details
Apollodorus (Ancient Greek: Ἀπολλόδωρος) was the tyrant of Cassandreia in Chalcidice from about 279 to 276 BC. He rose to power as a professed champion of popular liberty and seized control of the city by a conspiracy that ancient authors say was sealed with human sacrifice; his rule became a byword for cruelty in Greek and Roman moralizing literature. He was overthrown when Antigonus II Gonatas took Cassandreia in 276 BC.
