They met during filming of Arrowsmith in 1931 which produced by Hornblow Jr. Hornblow was married to Juliette Crosby. She and Hornblow Jr started a discreet relation. She waited his divorce with Juliette Crosby. Myrna Loy became pregnant early 1935 and submitted to an abortion which made her sterile. They married in 1936. They had many problems. Arthur Hornblow Jr was unfaithful, Loy too. Three weeks after their marriage, she began a new movie, Libeled Lady during summer 1936 with Spencer Tracy, her former lover. Arthur Hornblow Jr visited her only once on the set. He learned Spencer Tracy joked him about their marriage. Hornblow Jr never knew Myrna Loy had a torrid affair with Spencer Tracy. After their divorce they threw a lavish party at the Mocambo.
