Ashimjan Suleimenovich Akhmetov (Kazakh: Әшімжан Сүлейменұлы Ахметов, Russian: Ашимжан Сулейменович Ахметов; born 23 February 1950 in Tole Bi in the Shu District, died 15 September 2012) was a Kazakh scientist, lawyer, engineer, and politician. In the 1990s, he served as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan. From 1994 to 1995, he was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan during its XIII session, and from 1996 to 1999, he was a deputy of the Mäjilis during its I session. He was the rector of several Kazakh universities, a candidate of legal sciences, a doctor of technical sciences, a professor, and an academician. He was also the author of numerous patents in the field of chemistry.
