However, moving to St. Augustine had a bright side for Athalia: James Lindsley. James was a former mayor of St. Augustine and a real estate agent. Around town, people called James “Jinx,” as his wife and son had both passed away in separate vehicular accidents. Jinx and Athalia hit it off and were married within a few months of meeting. By this point, Margarita had passed away, so Athalia was living in the large house on Marine Street by herself. Yet, she didn’t immediately move in with Jinx. Instead, they lived separate but interconnected lives. This again showed the independence that Athalia prioritized in her life.
