Born Beatriz Elizabeth Pirón Candelario on 27th February, 1995 in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, she is famous for 2012 Pan-American Championships in Antigua Guatemala, 48kg (snatch - 4th, clean and jerk - 5th, total - 6th). 2015 World Championships in Houston, 48kg (snatch - 11th, clean and jerk - 13th, total - 11th). Santo Domingo Sports Writers' Association Weightlifter of the Year (2020). Three top-10 results in as many Olympic Games appearances (2012, 2016, 2020), with a best result of fourth at Rio 2016, finishing 1kg off the podium in the flyweight competition. At 17 years and 152 days, at London 2012 she became the youngest weightlifter to represent the Dominican Republic and, at the Paris Olympic Games 2024, she will become the second-oldest woman to lift for the island nation at age 29. By competing at her fourth Games, she will also equal hurdler and double Olympic gold medallist Felix Sanchez with the most Games participations for a Dominican athlete. 2018 49kg world snatch bronze medallist with a lift of 84kg. She won the bronze medal in snatch at the 2011 Youth World Championships and gold at the 2011 Youth Pan American Championships. She went to the 2012 Summer Olympics ranking in the 9th place and the 2016 Summer Olympics ranking fourth.
