Darrin (Cuba Gooding Jr.) has always liked Lilly (Beyonce Knowles) since they were children. They are reunited as adults, and when Darrin needs a lead singer for his choir, Lilly who has a beautiful voice, joins in. In the beginning, she didn`t feel the same way. As kids, she would always take his candy when he would bribe her with it to be his girlfriend. As time progresses, she starts to love him back, and when their choir won the competition, he asked her to marry him and she said "yes". At the very end of the movie, they have already gotten married and had their own child. Lilly already had a son named Dean.
