Buz Verno, a famed and influential rock ’n' roll bass player, was born John Vierno in Staten Island, New York on September 28, 1953. After his father encouraged him to start playing music, Buz began to play guitar at 7 years old. He switched to bass guitar at 12 years old. He died on August 27, 2020.
