Carolle Drake married minister Matthew Faulkner by World War II and had two children with him. While he was fighting overseas, she began modeling and working as a showgirl in NYC. She took up with champion boxer Joe Louis. When Faulkner returned, he sued Joe Louis for "alienation of affections." The lawsuit ended her relationship with both men. Carolle went on to marry singer Billy Eckstine, who adopted her children with Faulkner.
