Charles H. Hogan (January 9, 1850 – July 19, 1939) was an American train engineer, mostly for the New York Central railroad company. His talent was knowing how to run steam locomotives at peak capacity without doing harm to the boiler. Nearly all high speeds made by New York Central trains in the late nineteenth century were done by Hogan. He set in motion the concept of 100 miles per hour (160 km/h) schedules for trains in the United States.
