NO ONE could accuse Chris Evans of being slow off the mark. He's been dating TV presenter Jayne Sharp for less than a month - but already he's moved her into his home.
The 39-year-old media mogul has not exactly been short of female company since the end of his three-year marriage to Billie Piper last October.
But any thoughts of getting a revolving door fitted at his pounds 5million abode in North London's Belsize Park have been shelved since he asked 28-year-old Jayne to move in. A source close to Chris tells us, "Chris took the break-up with Billie very badly. His way of coping was through heavy drinking and women. "He got through so many girls in such a a short space of time it was incredible. But he's always found that unfulfilling and desperately wanted someone special to spend his time with."
And Jayne, who worked in a chippy
before becoming a presenter on Challenge TV, which is owned by Chris's UMTV, fits the bill.
Our spy adds, "Jayne's northern, like Chris, and they share a similar sense of humour. They'd known each other for a while before they started dating.
"From day one there was a strong physical attraction between them. After a few drinks with friends, one thing led to another and it's all moved incredibly fast.
"Jane didn't hesitate to say yes when he asked her to move in. She tells everyone Chris is the funniest and kindest man she's ever met. She lets him be himself, accompanies him on his drinking sessions and gets on with all his pals."
At last weekend's sell-out U2 gig, our backstage spy reports, "Chris introduced her to Bono as his girlfriend, which is a pretty big deal for him.
"Even though it's all happened quickly there are strong feelings on both sides. Chris says he's happier than he's been in ages."
