Claire Brosseau (born Claire Elyse Brosseau; February 24, 1977 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian actress, comedian, writer and podcaster. She attended a French middle school in Toronto and her mother taught her to read and write in English. She attended Beaconsfield High School in Montreal. She graduated with honours with disciplined studies in AP English as well as the linguistics, literary and cultural importance of Shakespeare. She was a provincial finalist in public speaking in French and English. She was given the Award of Excellence in drama and english. Brosseau attended John Abbott College in Montreal with concentrated studies in humanities and musical theatre. She was granted a scholarship to the Neighborhood Playhouse acting conservatory in New York City. There, Claire worked at a cabaret bar where she sang and performed her show ‘Thanks For the Mammaries’. She began working as a stand-up comic in Toronto and signed with Mark Breslin’s Yuk Yuk’s chain of clubs all over Canada and was a finalist on the Comedy Network’s Great Canadian Laugh-off. In 2003, she was nominated in the Best Actress category for a MECCA (Montreal English Circle Critics Award) for her portrayal of Louise in Daniel MacIvor's Marion Bridge. In 2010 Brosseau completed a year-long stunt fiction blog called ‘The Manbbatical’ which was printed in Toronto’s arts weekly Now Magazine. Claire lives in Los Angeles and has performed as an actor and comedian all over the world.
