What's Corey Feldman up to these days? He's fronting a rock band, he's engaged to a former model and he's still bitter about his failed marriage to Beverly Hills, 90210 star Vanessa Marcil.
"That was quite an atrocious marriage," the former child star (Stand by Me, The Goonies) tells Dish. "It was puppy love. I was 18 when I did it, so I wasn't really aware of what I was doing.
Unfortunately, it was one of those situations where I thought the girl was in love with me, but she had hidden agendas. She got me to help her in all the right places and then bailed." Marcil's publicist
declined to respond.
The 27-year-old Feldman has much higher hopes for his upcoming marriage to Regina Ferguson, a former model who took his advice and gave up showbiz to attend college. "I kind of told her that this business might not be the best direction to go in," he says. "I think it's a kind of meat grinder that chews you up and spits you out, and I'd like to save anybody from that process, if it's possible."
These days, Feldman is fronting a rock band called Truth Movement. The band is holding a release party at House of Blues in Los Angeles on Tuesday for its new CD, Still Searching for Soul (Vegas Records), a concept album featuring lyrics
and vocals by Feldman. The CD follows a man during a 24-hour period as he struggles with a variety of emotional issues ranging from relationships to
religion.
"It's about trying to bring a little truth and a little justice back into the sick world that we live in," he says. "It's about looking at the cynicism and the sarcastic nature from which we are raised and saying, 'Enough of that,
let's all try to get back into the whole idea of peace and love.' I think that we've entered a very dark age in the '90s. People would rather shoot someone down than be there to lend a hand. It's kind of sickening to me that society has allowed itself to be so technologically advanced, yet so emotionally disturbed.
