In 1985 It was while he worked for the union
American Civil Liberties. It's where he met his wife, Corina, a high-school teacher.
When they met, his name was Tony Villar. Hers was Corina Raigosa
After they were married, they combined the two names into one to demonstrate their faithfulness. The union resulted in one of the longest names in American politics.
Separation and Divorce Time Line:
November 9, 1994: Although Corina had been in a battle with thyroid cancer during Antonio's political campaign, Antonio had an affair the day after his election to the State Assembly. The other woman was the wife of one of their friends and the mother of their godchild. Corina and Antonio separated for 2 1/2 years. They reconciled in the midst of rumors of Antonio's continued reputation as a womanizer.
May 26, 2006: The last time Antonio and Corina were seen together and photographed.
September 5, 2006: The last time Antonio was photographed wearing his wedding ring.
June 3, 2007: Antonio and Corina separated. "... the breakup was triggered by Corina’s discovery on Antonio’s Blackberry of revealing romantic e-mails and messages from a woman. “Corina had sensed but this was evidence,” says a longtime friend. “She’d had enough.”

June 12, 2007: Corina filed for divorce. "Irreconcilable differences" was listed as the reason for the divorce.
July 3, 2007: Antonio admitted to his affair with Mirthala Salinas.
July 5, 2007: Mirthala placed on leave from the television station.
October 6, 2010: The divorce between Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Corina Raigosa was finalized.
