Dan Gutstein (born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1968) is an American writer who has published four collections of writing, non/fiction (prose, Edge Books, 2010), Bloodcoal & Honey (poetry, Washington Writers' Publishing House, 2011), Alt Tk (poetry, Dusie Kollektiv, 2013), and Buildings Without Murders (novel, Atmosphere Press, 2020). His writing, as well as interviews with him, have appeared in Ploughshares, Poets & Writers, Best American Poetry, storySouth, PANK, Verse Daily, and elsewhere. He has received grants and awards from the Maryland State Arts Council, Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Maryland, Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, and the University of Michigan, where he earned an MFA in creative writing. While he was teaching at George Washington University the web site Rate My Professors named him the 2010–2011 "hottest" professor in America. Gutstein is also vocalist and lyricist for Thunderdome, a vinyl EP released by rock band Joy on Fire in 2020.
