Daniel Johns and Adalita Srsen dated briefly when they toured together in 1997. During Silverchair's concert at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on December 6, 1997, Daniel dedicated the song "Spawn Again" to Adalita.
In a 1999 interview with Herald Sun, Daniel said:
Herald Sun: Did Adalita influence Neon Ballroom?
Daniel Johns: (Pause) Magic Dirt have been my favorite Australian band since I was 16. Magic Dirt have definitely influenced the way I write.
Herald Sun: Was it weird dating your idol?
Daniel Johns: That was strange. I think that was one of the reasons it didn’t work.
