Married after only 2 weeks. They had two children and were very happy until her death in 1946 when she fell down some stairs and fractured her skull. While playing Hide and Seek at a party at Tyrone Power's house, she opened a door to step into what she though was a
closet. It was actually steep stairs that lead into a basement. She died the next day as a result of her fall.
Niven was deeply stunned by her death and it was said that he could never mention her in later years without breaking down.
