Hellevi Rombin Schine was an extraordinary athlete as well as a stunning woman. As Hillevi Rombin, she was the Swedish national decathlon champion before being crowned Miss Sweden and later, in 1955, was crowned Miss Universe. Her athleticism was made apparent during the press conference following her Miss Universe victory when she did a handstand! Following her term as Miss Universe she headed to Hollywood to begin a movie career. Shortly after arriving in Hollywood she met and married G. David Schine, a Hollywood producer and hotel owner, with whom she had five children. She and her husband were killed in a plane crash along with one of her children, the pilot of the plane. All three were buried together.
Cause of death: Plane crash.
In 1957, Mr. Schine married Hillevi A. K. Rombin, a native of Aofta, Sweden, who was a Swedish national decathlon champion before becoming Miss Universe of 1955. The couple leave five children: Kevin, the twin of Berndt; Vidette Perry, Mark, Axel and Lance. Also surviving are four grandchildren.
