Dennis Robert Hoagland (April 2, 1884 – September 5, 1949) was a chemist and plant scientist working in the fields of plant nutrition and physiology. He was Professor of Plant Nutrition at the University of California at Berkeley from 1927 until his death in 1949. He is commonly known especially for his pioneering work on hydroponics and the well-known Hoagland solution. The Dennis R. Hoagland Award, first presented by the American Society of Plant Biologists in 1985, is named in his honor.
