Derrick Lee Foward (born April 26, 1968) is an American social activist and leader in the US civil rights movement. Foward is a NAACP Image Award winning activist and a Dayton, Ohio, native. He is the 34th president of the Dayton Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the youngest person to lead the local organization. Foward was first elected president on November 12, 2006, and is currently in his tenth two-year term which expires on December 31, 2026. He has also served as vice president (2019 – Present); 2nd vice president (2017 – 2019); 3rd vice president (2009 – 2017); and Executive Committee Member (2003 – 2009) of the Ohio Conference NAACP. Foward also serves on the NAACP National Life Membership Committee and has served as the chair of the NAACP National Credentials Committee for many years.
